Yes, I wrote a
book! As I’ve told many friends and acquaintances who suggested I write
one: “It’s written and published; oh, yes, and Oprah has been very
successful in encouraging people to purchase it! Unfortunately that’s
all in my head.” Alas, I doubt I’ll get to a book so a blog is the
next best thing. As far as the byline of the blog is concerned, since peterabbi (only one “r”) has been my email moniker for over two decades, I thought I’d continue to play on the Beatrix Potter character with which so many of us grew up (note: there are two “r”s in that). Across the years I’ve written hundreds of articles for my Wilmington congregation as well as pieces for the three congregations I’ve served in my “retirement.” As a matter of fact, during the pandemic I wrote a daily article for one congregation. I figure there are about three hundred of them. I’ve also written for our Delaware Jewish community newsmagazine, and a number of years back, a monthly column for our Wilmington chapter of Hadassah! Well, my fingers are dancing on the keyboard…all dressed up with nowhere to go, as it were. It was suggested that I make my blog a commercial success (pardon me, but I’ve got to guffaw). I’m not interested in it being a money-making endeavor, but if you’re so inclined, you can make a donation to your favorite charitable organization (While we Jews are very “charitable,” I don’t like the term “charity.” I’ll write about that one day as well). There’s nothing earth-shattering in my words. Many have indicated that they learn something from them, and I’m happy about that. But as a rabbi for almost a half-century, and as a normal human being for almost three quarters of a century, I’ve enjoyed sharing my thoughts, experiences, life in general. I hope you will enjoy reading about them. |
